Vent: Watching a crew try to finish a slab with the sun already baking it is just painful

I saw a crew in Mesa last week start their finishing work at 10:30 AM on a 90-degree day. The concrete was already setting up way too fast, and they were fighting it the whole time. They kept adding water to the surface, which is a total rookie move that just weakens the top layer. I know the schedule is tight, but you have to pour early or wait for a cooler part of the day. Once that crust forms, you're just putting in bad work. I've had to fix too many spider-webbed slabs from this exact mistake. Has anyone else had to convince a foreman to shift a pour time to save the job?

Had to pick between a full avionics suite upgrade or just the comms on a Cessna 172 last quarter.

Went with the full upgrade for future-proofing, but it added 15 extra hours of labor. Anyone else faced a 'go big or go home' call on a retrofit?

My friend insists you can't fix a sunken cake center, but I did it last Tuesday

I was making a chocolate layer cake for a birthday in my kitchen, and the middle sank a full inch after cooling. I just filled the dip with extra frosting, stacked the next layer on top, and nobody at the party even noticed. Why do people act like a small collapse means the whole thing is ruined?

I mean, I thought the pale yellow text on cream looked cool, but my analytics showed a 90% bounce rate in the first week. Had to pay a developer $200 to redo the whole color scheme. Anyone else get carried away with a theme and forget people actually need to read it?

Pro tip: I read a barber history book from the 1950s and it said a barber's pole originally meant you could get a bloodletting done there.

Found this old book at a garage sale in Cleveland and that fact blew my mind, so has anyone else come across a weird piece of barber history that stuck with you?
