My back is killing me from hunching over case files

I spent all weekend digging into an old missing person case. Now my lower back hurts so bad I can barely sit. What do you guys do to stay comfortable during long research sessions?

When you said your back is killing you, that reminds me of when I strained mine from marathon gaming sessions. I had to start using a back support pillow and it made a big difference. Maybe try adjusting your seating setup before it gets worse.

Seriously, after my own marathon research stints, I end up looking like a question mark. @the_brooke has the right idea with the pillow, but I've found that stacking old law books under my laptop works too (it's a free stand, basically). Just don't use the case files you're reading, that's a sure way to lose your place.

Wait, you're using old law books as a laptop stand? @barbara_craig, that's genius but also kind of scary if they're heavy! I tried something similar with cookbooks once and nearly knocked over my coffee. Seriously, the balance has to be just right or it's a disaster. Those big books seem solid until you add a laptop and make one quick move.
