inTossed $30 on a CSS gradient generator that was basically a color picker in a trench coat
A $30 color picker in a trench coat, I get the frustration. But I actually think that kind of tool has a place. Not everyone who messes with CSS wants to code a gradient from scratch. Sometimes you just need a quick visual way to pick two colors and preview how they blend without typing out hex codes or percentages. The shady part is how they market procedural noise patterns when it's just a basic linear gradient. That's on them for overselling it. Still, I've bought way worse things for $30 and at least this one spat out working code I could copy paste.

inMy book club pushed a memoir I voted against... and I was wrong about it
Stumbled into that exact same mindset when my sister pushed "The Anthropocene Reviewed" on me. I mean, a book of reviews? Seemed like the laziest concept ever. Ended up crying over the chapter on the QWERTY keyboard and the one about the indestructible water bear. What got me was how he turns these random tiny things into mirrors for how we handle being human. Maybe the books we fight against are the ones that know something we don't want to admit about ourselves.

inLooking back, I definitely wasted about $40 on those fancy 'meal prep' containers that were way too small for actual portions.
Remembered @kai_stone99 bought one of those spiralizers and it broke before the zucchini did.

inI finally get why high contrast isn't always better
Ha, I feel like such a dummy because I spent years thinking I was being clever with pure black and white designs. I'd even brag about how "clean" and "modern" they looked. Now I realize I was just making everyone's eyes work harder for no good reason. I switched to like a dark charcoal on a soft cream and honestly even my own eyes feel less tired at the end of the day.

inMy old boss told me to always run the main panel wire in the attic first, not the basement.
Is it really that deep though? Like yea fishing wire through a finished ceiling sucks but most old houses have some kind of chase or access point if you know where to look. I've done plenty of installs in basements where you just cut a small hole for the box and use a glow rod to snake it over to the wall. It's not the end of the world if you gotta patch a little drywall later.
