I know the standard is to hide cables in walls for a clean look. But I think that's wrong in some cases. For example, in older homes with plaster walls, fishing cables can cause damage and take extra time. I've seen jobs where surface raceways saved hours and allowed for easy upgrades later. Tenants in rental units like not having holes patched when they move. Sure, it might not look as sleek, but function over form makes sense here. Let's be real, not every install needs to be invisible.
