Read a post about niching down and it made me rethink my whole agency

I saw someone say their agency grew 40% after they stopped taking every client and focused on one industry. Has anyone else tried cutting your client types way back and seen real growth from it?

Ever actually considered that niching down might just be hiding a bigger problem with your sales process, not solving it?

Oh man, "hiding a bigger problem" really hit home for me. I actually tried niching down once and it turned out my sales process was basically just me sending the same copy-paste email to everyone and hoping for the best. Not a great look. It's like putting a fresh coat of paint on a car with no engine. I thought I was being strategic, but really I was just avoiding the scary work of figuring out how to actually talk to people who might buy my stuff. So yeah, maybe I should fix my own leaky bucket before I worry about what kind of water I'm putting in it.
