Spent $300 on a sales script rewrite and it flopped hard
I hired a copywriter last month to redo our cold call script for the plumbing niche, figured it was worth the money since my old one got me nowhere. Every call this week started the same way, the prospect would listen for ten seconds then hang up, and I finally realized the script sounded like a robot trying to be friendly. Has anyone else thrown cash at a script or template that just made things worse, or am I the only one who fell for the shiny sales pitch?

Used to be the guy who'd throw money at any shiny new script or funnel, thinking the words were the whole problem. Then I bought a "high converting" template for a totally different industry, tried to plug my numbers in, and it came out sounding like a bad AI wrote it. Same thing you're describing, people would just go quiet on the line. Realized the issue wasn't the words, it was that I was reading something that didn't match how I actually talk. Now I just write down what I'd say to a buddy about the service and use that as my base. Your old script might've been rough but at least it was yours.
