Thought fixing our billing system would take a week, took three months instead
Back in March we switched from manual invoices to an automated setup. I figured a weekend of tweaking and we'd be good. But between integrations not talking to each other and clients getting double billed, it turned into a total mess. We finally got it sorted last week. Has anyone else run into a "quick fix" that just snowballed on them?

A buddy of mine tried to update his small auto shop's appointment software before the big summer rush. Figured it'd be a simple weekend swap, but the new system didn't talk to his old parts inventory at all. Customers ended up with double bookings and parts on backorder for weeks, took him almost four months to untangle the whole thing. He still jokes that the "quick fix" cost him more than the old system ever did.

Three months is still faster than my attempt to "quickly" reorganize my garage last spring. I ended up with a pile of boxes in the driveway for two weeks and a sunburn before giving up. @gavin928 sounds like he had the same kind of fun with that auto shop mess.
