Dropped $2,400 on a part time bookkeeper and it was the best money I spent all year
I run a 6 person shop and I was doing all the invoicing and payroll myself at night. After two months of late paychecks and a missed vendor payment, I hired a part time bookkeeper for about $2,400 a year. She found $3,100 in software we were paying for that nobody used, plus a tax filing mistake that would have cost me more. Now I get a Friday report and I actually know where we stand. Has anyone else hired help just for the boring money stuff, or did you keep it in house?
Just a small thing, $2,400 a year for part time help is more like $200 a month, so that's a pretty low rate for a bookkeeper, not that it isn't worth it. Makes sense that she paid for herself fast if she found $3,100 in software you weren't using. Idk if I'd count that as a typical result though, it sounds like you got lucky with someone who actually dug in. The Friday report alone would probably be worth it for most shops your size.
