Found out our old shop billed 1,400 hours a year per person, we're at 1,150 now
I was digging through boxes in the storage room at our office in Sacramento trying to find an old tax file and ran into a stack of time sheets from 2009. Back then the shop had four people and they logged about 1,400 billable hours per person, which floored me because our team of six averaged around 1,150 per person this year. The weird part is we have better software now, so I sat there trying to figure out where all that time went. Some of it is more admin stuff and longer review cycles, but I still can't explain the whole gap. Has anyone else looked back at old records and found their people used to bill way more hours per head, or is that just how things go as a shop gets bigger?
