My aunt insists on house rules that slow down every game

I just started bringing the rulebook and reading it out loud before we play. What's your aunt's reaction when you show her the printed rules?

I started putting my weekly to-do list on a sticky note inside my journal

Right, the "total game changer" feeling until you have so many sticky notes that your desk looks like a yellow snowstorm. I swear mine multiply overnight. The real game changer is when you finally peel them all off and the desk feels weirdly naked and quiet.

Just realized I've been crimping my RJ31X jacks wrong for like 8 years, a customer's intermittent line fault finally showed me.

I've had the opposite experience, punch-down tools can still mess up those pins if you're not careful.

Showerthought: I painted my front door with two different sheens to test them

That's a bold move, turning your front door into a science fair project. At least now you know which one to use before the whole thing looks like a sad, spotted leopard. So are you going to redo the whole door in semi-gloss now?

Unpopular opinion: I started using a cheap magnetic level from Harbor Freight on my rail alignments.

Yeah that "good enough is actually good enough" line from @jackson.wesley is spot on for rough work. Read a forum post where a guy checked his HF level against a machinist square and it was dead on. For hanging a door or slapping up a wall, that 1/16 drift over ten feet just doesn't matter. The magnet saves so much time when you're working alone.
