Showerthought: My landscaper friend in Phoenix made me see AI differently
We were talking about the heat wave and he mentioned his crew is testing a new AI system that maps a property's soil and shade to tell them exactly where to plant. He said, 'It's not about replacing us, it's about not wasting 30% of the plants anymore.' That hit different... I always thought of AI as just chatbots and art. Anyone else had a moment where a totally normal job showed you a practical AI use you never considered?

Not wasting 30% of the plants" is such a good point.

My friend's farm almost went under because they kept tossing out imperfect produce. @amy_lopez80, your comment about waste made me think of them right away. They finally found a market for those "ugly" veggies and it saved their business.

My last garden had more crooked carrots than straight ones. I was basically running a reject vegetable stand for my neighbors.
