I always thought you had to thaw frozen fries first

My neighbor told me she just throws the frozen bag straight into her air fryer at 400 degrees for 15 minutes. I tried it with some crinkle cuts last night and they came out perfect, way crispier than when I thaw them. I was so sure they'd be soggy in the middle. It saves me like 20 minutes of waiting for them to defrost. Has anyone else found a frozen food that works better going straight in?

Actually gotta disagree on the fries thing. Maybe it's just my air fryer but I tried that once and the outside burned before the inside was done. Still had that icy middle. I mean idk, maybe I need to shake them more or something. But thawing them first just works for me every time, no guesswork.

My old air fryer was the same way, a real drama queen with frozen fries. I found dropping the temp by like 25 degrees and giving them an extra shake halfway through did the trick. Your method is totally valid though, sometimes you just want the fries and not a science project.
