Missed the old basket-style air fryer at my sister's place in Tulsa

I was visiting my sister last month in Tulsa and she still uses that first generation basket air fryer from 2018. It got me thinking about how much the design has shifted to those big oven-style doors and trays. Sure, the new ones hold more food and are easier to clean, but I kind of miss the shake-every-5-minutes routine. Does anyone else feel like the basket method actually gave better crispness on things like fries or chicken wings?

My sister's 2018 basket model still has the char marks to prove it worked. I tried one of those new oven style ones at a friend's house and the wings came out looking like they got a mild sunburn. The shaking every 5 minutes was half the fun anyway, gave me an excuse to stop staring at the timer. Now I just flip a tray once and call it a day, which feels like cheating.
