Caught a fuel leak on a 737 NG during a night shift last month at O'Hare

Was doing a routine walkaround and noticed a tiny wet spot near the right wing root. Ended up finding a cracked fuel line fitting that could have turned into a major issue on takeoff. Anyone else ever catch something small that could have been a big problem?

Did you report it or just flag it in the logbook? Fuel leaks on the 737 NG are scary because they can hide so well, especially at night with bad lighting. I once found a tiny crack in a hydraulic line on a CRJ that was barely seeping, but it would've blown out at altitude for sure. Those little wet spots always make me stop and look twice now.

CRJ hydraulic systems run at 3000 psi, not altitude alone causing that blowout.
