TIL my old boss had a rule about customer phone calls at midnight
I was scrolling through an old installer forum archive last night and saw a guy mention how his boss made them keep a log of every after-hours call for a year. They found 80% of those calls were from the same three customers who just kept tripping their own motion sensors with curtains or pets. Made me realize how much time I used to waste rushing out to false alarms that could've been solved with a simple placement adjustment. You guys ever track which customers call the most after hours?

Tbh three customers caused 80% of our midnight calls too.

Man you're not kidding. Our top three were like a 24 hour helpline for their personal life decisions. One guy called at 2am to ask if we thought his wife would like the new bathroom tile color he picked out. I swear some people think we're paid therapists with a side of IT support. At least we can bond over our shared trauma of knowing way too much about Karen from accounting's cat's medical history.
