Heads up about those anime streaming sites with bad subs
I ran into a problem last month where I started watching a popular series and the subtitles were clearly machine translated. It took me about 3 hours of pausing, comparing with clips online, and searching forums to confirm the subs were totally wrong. The translations were mixing up character names and putting words in the wrong order. What should have been a straightforward watch turned into this big research project. Has anyone else had this issue with specific shows on certain streaming platforms?

Have you considered that the problem might be with the particular show or source you chose rather than a widespread issue? I have watched dozens of series on various free streaming sites and found the translations to be perfectly fine, with accurate names and natural sentence flow. Maybe the bad subs you encountered are specific to that one show or a single uploader's mistake.

Yeah you got lucky with your sources I guess. I used to think the same thing until I tried watching a popular anime on one of those sites and the subs were so bad the main character's name changed halfway through the episode. Now I just stick to the same two or three sites that I know have decent translations or I check the comments first to see if anyone's complaining about the subs before I start watching.
