One comment about my pacing changed how I watch entire arcs now

I used to binge everything at 1.5x speed because I just wanted to get to the fights. Someone on a forum said 'you're missing the quiet scenes that make the loud ones matter.' At first I brushed it off, but then I tried watching one 12 episode show at normal speed, no skipping. Huge difference. The buildup scenes with just dialogue or scenery actually set up the emotional payoff. Now I never speed through anything under 24 episodes. Has anyone else switched their viewing speed after a random comment like that?

Man, talk about a wake-up call. I used to skip the first half of any episode just to see if the fight was worth it, and now I feel like I owe every show an apology. Tried it with one of those slow-burn mecha shows and actually caught myself caring about the pilots before the robots even showed up. It's a real trap, thinking the action is the whole point when it's really just the dessert.
