Picked streaming Crunchyroll over HiDive for the winter season and kind of regretting it

I had to decide between Crunchyroll and HiDive for this winter's new shows. I went with Crunchyroll because it's cheaper at $8 a month and has a bigger library. But I'm missing out on a couple shows that only HiDive picked up, like that one fantasy series everyone's talking about. The thing is, Crunchyroll's player keeps buffering on my laptop during peak hours, which is annoying. I also heard HiDive has better community features for discussions, which is what I'm really into. Has anyone else made the switch between these two and found one works better for keeping up with talks about episodes?

Is this just how EVERYTHING works now? You have to pick ONE option and then immediately find out you're missing something GOOD from the other one. I swear it's the SAME with grocery stores lately. The big chain near me has EVERYTHING but the meat is always just okay, while the smaller local place has amazing steaks but no regular produce. With streaming it feels like you're ALWAYS going to have that one show you can't watch unless you get the OTHER service. The buffering issue is the real kicker though. That's just basic stuff. If I'm paying eight bucks a month I expect it to PLAY without stopping.

Man I feel this so hard. I went with HiDive last season and regretted it because the app kept crashing on my phone during episode drops. I switched to Crunchyroll for this winter and honestly the buffering is way worse on my end too. What worked for me was just biting the bullet and paying for both one month to test which one actually ran better on my setup. Crunchyroll ended up being fine if I download episodes ahead of time instead of streaming live. For the community stuff I just joined a Discord server for the shows I watch, that helped more than any built in forum ever did.
