Warning: I hit 47 unfinished seasonal anime in my queue today, and I can't tell if that number is a problem or a badge
So I keep a note on my phone with every show I started and never finished, and I counted it this morning at breakfast and got 47. Forty seven. Some of these go back to 2019, like I stalled on Promised Neverland at episode 8 and Beastars at episode 5 and never went back. My buddy says that's just how seasonal anime works now, you sample the first three episodes, drop what doesn't grab you, and move on, no guilt. But I keep thinking about the other side, that a show like Odd Taxi took me six episodes before it clicked and it ended up being one of my favorites ever, and if I had been doing the three episode rule I would have missed it. So which one is right? Is dropping fast just being honest about your time, or is it killing the chance for a slow burn to win you over? I want to know where everyone draws the line, and if you have a number in your own queue that made you stop and stare at it.
