A client in Spokane insisted their dryer was fine, but the belt was about to snap

I was on a call for a noisy dryer. The homeowner said it just needed a quick look, but I could hear the belt squealing from the garage. When I opened it up, the belt was frayed down to a few threads. I told them it could go any minute, but they wanted to wait. Has anyone else had a customer push back on a clear safety fix like that?

Wasn't that just asking for a bigger repair bill later?

Understand the pushback, Fiona_Murray, but sometimes people just don't have the cash on hand for a surprise repair. That belt could have lasted a week or snapped that night, and they were willing to roll the dice. It's frustrating, but you can't force someone to fix something they own.
