Gave up on torque specs for dryer drums, here is why
For years I torqued every drum bolt to spec on gas dryers, 85 inch pounds on the flange. Then a neighbor's dryer started squealing 4 months after my repair, and the bolts were still snug but the drum was slightly out of round. Turns out the OEM spec is for a new drum, not one with 10 years of wear. Now I tighten by feel, set the belt tension with a twist test, and I have had zero callbacks in the last year. Your mileage may vary, but has anyone else had better luck skipping the torque wrench on high mile drums?
