Shoutout to the guy who told me to check the door switch first on dryers
I was at a parts counter in Phoenix last month and overheard a veteran tech telling a newbie that 90% of no-heat dryer calls are just a blown door switch. Tried it on a Whirlpool the next day, sure enough the switch was toast and I saved myself an hour of troubleshooting. Has anyone else found a simple trick like that which cuts down your service time big time?

Gonna have to push back hard on this one. That door switch thing is a total trap in my experience, especially on newer dryers with all their electronic boards. More often than not, I've seen a bad thermal fuse or a clogged vent cause the no-heat issue, not that little plastic switch. The door switch failing open usually just stops the whole machine from running, not just the heat. On a Whirlpool or Samsung, the high-limit thermostat gets stuck open way more commonly than the door switch cracks, and chasing the wrong part first just wastes a trip back.
