Just realized I burned $180 on a micro chipper that ate more time than brush
Bought a used 3 inch chipper off a guy in Tacoma for $180 thinking it would save me trips to the dump on small pruning jobs. Turns out I spend 45 minutes feeding it stuff that would take 10 minutes to load and haul off, and it clogs on anything green. Went back to stacking and hauling, and honestly my day goes smoother. Anyone else find that small gear ends up costing more in time than it saves?
My buddy picked up one of those little electric chippers from a yard sale for like 60 bucks and had the same deal happen. He figured he'd chip all his hedge trimmings instead of bagging them, but the thing jammed every 5 minutes on anything with leaves still on it. He spent a whole Saturday poking a stick down the chute and cussing, then finally just threw the branches in his truck bed. Now it sits in his shed under a tarp and he uses it as a weight to hold down stuff. Some gear sounds good on paper but the setup and unclogging eats you alive.
