Used an old school wedge trick on a nasty leaner today
Had this red oak leaning over a shed near Akron for like 3 years. Put the wedge high and tapped it slow, took 20 minutes. Gut feeling said one more tap, and the whole thing dropped clean off the stump. Has anyone else had luck with high wedges on leaners, or do you guys just use a block and tackle?

High wedges work best when the leaner is still holding bark on the back side, that tension does half the work for you. Block and tackle just fights the tree, but a slow tap reads what the wood is telling you. Sounds like your gut saved you a shed repair bill, that's the real equipment.
