That whole Nazca lines thing finally clicked for me
I always thought the Nazca lines were some ancient alien runway or whatever, just sounded too wild. Then I watched a doc last month where they showed how the people back then used wooden stakes and rope to map out those giant shapes. Seeing them actually recreate a monkey figure using just hand tools and string made me realize, yeah, this was just really clever engineering, not UFOs. Has anyone else changed their mind on a famous site after seeing how it was actually built?

Blew my mind too when I finally saw that documentary. I used to think the Nazca lines were some kind of ancient alien landing strip because it just seemed too impossible for humans to pull off. Then I tried to draw a perfect circle on my driveway with chalk and a string and gave up after like five minutes because I tripped over the string. So yeah, major respect for those people who did it on a massive scale across the desert with just sticks and rope. Makes me feel like an absolute dweeb for ever believing the alien theory. Now I just assume any ancient mystery I don't understand is probably my own lack of patience and coordination.

The string thing gets me too. Tried to map out a simple star shape in my backyard with some twine and stakes, ended up with a lopsided blob that looked more like a deformed potato. Gotta hand it to those Nazca folks, they had way better aim with their sticks than I ever will.
