Stop flying blind in the desert, your white balance is lying to you
Honestly, I've shot in Phoenix for 6 years now and the amount of footage I see from other local crews with that ugly orange cast is wild. It's not the camera, it's the fact that everyone sets white balance at noon and forgets the light shifts hard by 4pm. Last month I was on a shoot near South Mountain and we had to reshoot an entire interview because the skin tones looked like Cheetos. I know we all rely on auto or that one presets we saved, but the heat haze and low sun here mess with the sensor differently. Spend 30 seconds with a gray card before each setup, it sounds basic but it saves you hours in post. Has anyone else dealt with clients complaining about color that you know is a straight on-set issue?
