The day I stopped adjusting white balance manually
For three years I shot every Arizona wedding with a custom white balance card, adjusting per scene. Last month at a gig near Scottsdale, a client pulled up their phone footage and asked why my video looked so much warmer than theirs. That's when I realized I'd been clinging to a habit from my old studio days, and the auto balance on my Sony has been dead on for over 200 shoots now. Anyone else found that trusting the camera's meter beats the old manual tricks once you learn its quirks?

Manual mode is a comfort blanket, honestly. Once I stopped obsessing over that dumb gray card and trusted the A7's auto, my turnaround time got way faster and clients quit asking about the color. Same thing happened to me on a beach shoot, the camera just knew better than my old eyes.
