A guy at the laundromat on 9th told me to stop folding my socks before I dry them
I was standing there last Saturday folding socks straight out of the washer when he looked over and asked why I keep matching them wet. He said he quit doing that after 20 years of losing pairs and now he just dumps everything loose in the dryer. I tried it that night and got all 14 socks back for the first time in months, no strays. It sounds dumb but I had never questioned the order of things. What little chores do you do in a weird order just because your mom did them that way?
Sorting socks before the dryer is one of those things I never even thought about until now, and it makes total sense when you say it out loud (all that wet matching is just wasted time). My mom always made us put dishes away in a set order, bowls first, then plates, cups last, and I still do it that way in my own kitchen without thinking. Funny how these tiny habits stick with us for years before we ever stop to ask why.
