My dog tried to eat the Andromeda galaxy last month

So I finally got a clear night to try and image M31 from my backyard in Boise. I had my little refractor and camera all set up, took about 45 minutes to get polar alignment just right. I went inside for five minutes to grab a jacket, and when I came back out, my dog Baxter was standing with his front paws on the tripod leg, licking the dew shield like it was a giant ice cream cone. The whole rig was wobbling, and I just froze, watching my carefully framed shot of Andromeda jiggle in the live view. I mean, idk what he thought it was, maybe a weird telescope popsicle? I had to start the whole alignment process over. Has anyone else had a pet decide your astro gear was a snack?

What is it with dogs and expensive gear? Mine once tried to bury my finderscope in the backyard, thought it was a fancy stick lol.

Mine chewed through a hundred dollar camera strap... guess he thought it was rawhide.
