Am I the only one who thinks you can sometimes skip the full paint prep on a small dent?

Had a customer with a quarter-sized door ding on a 2015 Civic, and they just wanted it cheap and fast for a trade-in. I tried just massaging it out with a glue pull kit, then hitting it with a single coat of color and a quick buff, no primer or sealer. It looked fine from five feet away and saved them about $300. When do you guys think a 'good enough' repair is actually okay for the job?

Honestly, that "good enough" repair is perfect for a quick trade-in flip, I've done the same thing on beaters.

Tbh @terry_hayes18, I had a truck last year where I just swapped the cracked tail light with a cheap one from the junkyard. Didn't even bother to color match it, just made sure the bulbs worked. The dealer didn't even look twice when I traded it in.
