Spent 4 hours trying to get a door skin to line up right
The bottom edge kept sitting proud by almost an eighth of an inch. I finally realized the inner brace had a tiny bend from a past repair. Anyone know a good trick for checking brace alignment before you commit the skin?

Try a straight edge across the brace before gluing.

My last project needed three braces to line up perfectly.

Ever think a simple visual check was enough? I used to just eyeball braces and got burned more than once. Now I run a thin bead of modeling clay along the brace edge before a test fit. The skin presses into it and leaves a perfect impression, showing high spots clear as day. It sounds silly but that little trick saved me from a major redo last month.
