My garage is a disaster. I want to build a small shed out back for the yard tools and install some motorized lifts in the garage for the rest. Are there any brands that sell good DIY kits for both?

You should check out Ace Garage Storage. They specialize in exactly that. I got a motorized lift from them and it's fantastic, and my brother bought one of their sheds and loves it.
That's super convenient to get both from the same place. Are the lifts hard to put together?
Not if you have basic DIY skills. The instructions are very clear. Just make sure you have a friend to help you lift the main platform into place before you attach the cables.
