Took me 3 months to fix a drainage issue that should've been a weekend job
I kept getting this soggy spot in my backyard every time it rained, figured it was just a minor grade problem. Got some bags of topsoil and spent a whole Saturday trying to build up the low area, but three days later it was a swamp again. Turns out my downspout extension was cracked underground and dumping water right at the foundation. I probably walked past that downspout fifty times before I actually dug it up and found the split. Still can't believe I wasted 3 months of rain on that dumb oversight. Anyone else spend way too long on simple fixes?

@burns.brooke right there with you on feeling like a clown. I spent a whole weekend digging trenches to redirect water that was already getting funneled away, just had a stupid leaf blockage in one of the pop-up drains. Could have fixed it with a garden hose in five minutes if I'd just looked closer at the outlet instead of assuming the whole system was shot. PVC sleeve for the win though, quick fix that holds up way better than replacing the whole downspout.

ngl i used to always roll my eyes at people who said to check the simple stuff first. like yeah obviously i looked at the downspout bro. but nah, i was dead wrong. your post actually made me go check mine and sure enough there was a tiny crack i totally missed for like two months. now i feel like a clown for all those hours hauling dirt around when the fix was literally a $10 pvc sleeve.
