I was about to give up on my studio floor until I tried a $12 bag of sand

The concrete slab for my 10x12 studio in Sacramento had a nasty slope, almost an inch off over 8 feet, and my floating floor was rocking like a boat. I tried shims for a week and nothing worked. Out of ideas, I bought a bag of play sand from the hardware store and poured a thin layer right over the slab under the foam underlayment. I spread it out with a rake, let it settle for a day, and then laid the flooring on top. It filled every tiny gap and made the floor perfectly solid and level. Has anyone else fixed a bad slab with something this simple?

Wait, does the sand ever shift over time? I'd be worried about it slowly moving and making new low spots.
