My backyard studio hit 100 days of daily use and it changed my whole routine

I put a small calendar in my 10x12 studio in Austin and just marked the 100th straight day I've gone out there to work. I didn't plan for it, it just happened because the space is so much better than my old desk in the house. It's quiet, has good light, and I can leave projects out. Has anyone else found that having a dedicated spot made you stick with a habit you couldn't before?

Totally get what you mean about the separate space. I cleared out a corner of my garage last year and it made all the difference. My brain just clicks into work mode when I step in there, away from the TV and the fridge. Before that, I was trying to write at the kitchen counter and kept getting pulled into house stuff. Having a door I can close is the real key.

Wait you have a whole separate building just for work? That's wild to me. I can't even keep my kitchen table clear for two days in a row. The fact that it's a totally different place from your house must make such a huge mental switch. I'm stuck working from my couch and it's impossible to focus. A hundred days straight is honestly mind blowing, good for you.

Honestly sounds like a lot of fuss. A dedicated spot is nice, but discipline is what keeps a habit. I've seen people with perfect home gyms who never use them, and guys who run every day from a crappy apartment. The space didn't make you do the hundred days, you did. The studio just made it less annoying.
