Vent: That $200 soundproofing foam roll was a total scam

I bought a 48-pack of those wedge foam panels off Amazon thinking it would kill the echo in my 10x12 backyard studio. All it did was make the place look like a dark cave and did almost nothing for the low end rumble from my AC unit. Anyone else wasted money on foam before realizing you need bass traps and real mass to actually fix acoustics?

That foam is just for high end reflections, not real bass problems. You need something with actual density to knock down low frequencies from that AC unit. Thick moving blankets or rockwool panels would do way more than those foam wedges ever could.

lol my home studio setup is a whole disaster of failed acoustic decisions. I bought those foam wedges thinking I was being smart, but now my room looks like a sad goth bedroom and my guitar still sounds like it's playing through a tin can. The low end rumble from my furnace is honestly just part of the vibe at this point, I guess. At least the foam makes a decent landing pad when I trip over my cables and faceplant. Real talk though, I swear the foam just rearranged the echo instead of actually killing it.
