The day I gave up on my $60 magnetic key fob for a real one
I used to just grab my spare key off a magnetic box under the bumper. That worked fine for 5 years until last Tuesday when I hit a pothole on Main Street in Denver and the whole thing just fell off somewhere. Now I keep a spare in my wallet like a normal person. Has anyone else had one of those magnetic boxes fail on them at the worst possible time?

Not gonna lie, I had the exact same thing happen except mine flew off on the highway near Boulder. Switched to a wallet key too and never looked back. Just feels way more solid.

Whoa, I gotta disagree with you on that one @kai_stone99. Wallet keys always felt flimsy to me, like they're just one bad twist away from stripping out all the threads. Had a buddy lose his car key mid-turn because the wallet thing just snapped in half. The clip on a regular key might come loose once in a blue moon if you're bouncing down the highway, but at least you can replace the whole key for like five bucks instead of getting stranded. Honestly, I don't get the hype around those wallet keys - they're more trouble than they're worth for daily driving. Why trade a one in a million failure for a part that wears out every few months?
