TIL that weird handle on my kitchen faucet wasn't broken, I was just using it wrong

Had this pull-down sprayer that kept kinking the hose every time I tried to use the spray mode. Drove me crazy for months. Turns out the handle slides sideways to lock the stream and you're supposed to twist it, not yank it. Anyone else ever fight with a faucet for way too long before reading the manual?

What is it about faucets and their secret little features? I had a similar thing with my kitchen sink sprayer where I thought the hose was too short, but really I just needed to pull it out at a different angle. It took me a solid year of frustration before my husband casually mentioned the little button on the head that changes the spray pattern. Now I feel like I should read manuals for everything but I never do.

Found the exact same thing with my pull down kitchen faucet, amy_reed79. That little button on the head that switches from stream to spray was hidden behind a flap of plastic for like two years. I only figured it out when I dropped the head and it hit the sink just right, the spray came out and I thought I broke it. Now I make a point to fiddle with every single part of a new faucet before I even install it, just to avoid that future frustration.
