Auto-trace in Illustrator sounded like a scam to me, then I tried it on a 3 color badge
A buddy who does shirts in Toledo kept saying the image trace tool could rebuild a clean vector from a scanned patch. I figured it would come out as wobbly blobs. Then I ran a dirty 400 dpi scan of a fire department crest through it with 3 colors and the curves came back sharp enough to cut on the plotter. Am I missing something, or does this thing actually save a lettering job when the source art is decent?
