I finally stopped hating the trend of tiny logos on big signs

Everyone in this group seems to love slapping a giant logo on everything, but I've seen three businesses in Denver lose customers because their signs were basically just a huge name with zero context. A tiny logo paired with a clear, readable tagline or icon does way more work than a big one that tells you nothing. I run a small shop myself, and when I scaled my logo down to 15% of the sign and added a simple paw print, people actually started finding my door. The fixation on logo size is the real problem, not the size itself. Has anyone else tested smaller marks on storefronts and seen better foot traffic than with the oversized versions?
