My barber in Cleveland swapped his logo font to Comic Sans on the sign and now I can't walk past it
My barber of 7 years repainted his window sign in Cleveland last week and dropped the clean block letters for Comic Sans, all lowercase, bright yellow on blue. I told him it looked like a middle school flyer and he said his nephew did it for free, which honestly explains everything. How do you tell a guy you've trusted with your hair for years that his new logo is making people walk past his shop?
Yikes, that font is a death sentence for any business. Comic Sans screams "we don't take ourselves seriously" and folks notice that stuff without even knowing why. The nephew hookup is the real problem here, free work always costs you something. Maybe just tell him straight that the yellow on blue is hard to read from the street and you almost missed the shop yourself. That way it's about the sign being easy to see, not about the font being ugly.
