That new coffee shop logo in Portland made me wince
Stopped by a spot on SE Belmont last Saturday and their sign has a steaming cup where the steam is just THREE squiggly lines that look like melting wire. The worst part is the cup outline is thicker than the letters, so my eye goes straight to the mark and totally skips the name. I asked the barista if they designed it in-house and she laughed, said their owner paid $50 on Fiverr. Has anyone else seen a logo where the illustration fights the type like that, and did you ever suggest a simple fix that actually worked?

Fiverr explains the whole thing, honestly. Three squiggles for steam is amateur hour, but it's what you get for fifty bucks. A thicker cup outline just makes the whole thing read as a blob from across the street.
