The laundromat logo had a hidden smiley face for 14 years
I was killing time at the Wash & Spin on 5th Ave last month and stared at their logo while my clothes spun. The circle around the washer icon made a subtle smirk when you look at the negative space, nobody noticed it until I pointed it out to the owner. He told me a customer first spotted it back in 2011 and they kept it on purpose after that. It got me thinking about how many accidental logos we walk past every day that are actually better than the designed ones. Anyone else found a hidden shape in a local business sign that made you see it totally different?
That smirk was hiding in plain sight the whole time and nobody caught it for years. Kinda makes you wonder how many other signs have little faces or shapes we just tune out. Accidental stuff sometimes beats what a designer plans on purpose.
