My old map app let me plan a route in two taps. Now it suggests detours I never asked for.

I used an app around 2015 where you just tapped start and end points. Today's version shows three alternate routes and ads before letting you go. Fans say it helps avoid traffic, but I think it overcomplicates a simple task. Do you prefer smart suggestions or straight-to-the-point design?

Ugh I feel this so hard. Remember when tech just did what you told it to without arguing. Now everything has to be a "smart assistant" guessing what you might want. I just need directions from A to B, not a loading screen full of options and ads before it even lets me type. Makes a simple trip feel like a whole project. Sometimes I miss when apps just worked without all the extra suggestions getting in the way.

Last week my maps app rerouted me for "better traffic" without asking, sending me down some needless backroads. I spent ten minutes staring at my phone like, I just wanted the highway, man. That kind of help just makes me not trust it at all.
