Debated between a $200 clipper and a $60 one... went with the cheap one first

I was picking out my first real setup for cutting at home, and I kept going back and forth between the Wahl Magic Clip and some no-name brand off Amazon. Everyone online says to invest in the good stuff, but I was worried I'd mess up and waste money. Started with the $60 one and honestly, it's been fine for the last 4 months. Gets the job done, no pulling or anything. Has anyone else started cheap and regretted it later?

Did you find the cheap one actually lasted decently? I went through the same thing last year (my husband talked me into it) and started with a $50 Wahl from Target. It's been over a year now and it's still cutting fine, no rust or weird noises. I figured if it died on me after six months, I'd just buy the expensive one then. Now I'm thinking maybe I don't need to upgrade at all, you know?

Took the same path myself actually. I figured I'd rather mess up a $60 clipper than a $200 one, and if it died fast, I'd just take the loss as a lesson. But mine's been going strong for almost two years now and I still haven't felt the need to upgrade. The blades still cut clean, the motor hasn't slowed down, and I've only had to oil it a couple times. Honestly makes me wonder if the mid-range stuff is just good enough for most people and the expensive ones are more for barbers who use them all day every day.
