My regulars used to bring the whole block in for a cut.

When I first started cutting hair, the shop was like a community center. These days, it's more quiet with folks focused on screens instead of each other. Have you seen this change in your own shop?

Took me a while to see it, honestly. I figured phones were just a modern thing, like how people used to read newspapers in the chair. But you're right, it's different now. It's like the social glue that held the place together has just worn down. A phone in someone's hand is a clear sign they're not looking to talk to the person next to them.

It's funny how we've all become pros at dodging real conversation. Like @pathall mentioned, getting lost in our phones lets us pretend the quiet isn't weird. We're not just checking the news anymore, we're actively choosing screens over people. That old social glue is basically just us wiping our phones clean now. Everyone's got this unspoken rule that a glowing rectangle means "do not disturb." Pretty soon, we'll need an app just to remind us how to chat face-to-face.

Honestly, @tylershah, I'm so glued to my phone I barely notice the silence.
