Noticing how my tool setup evolved from a bucket to a proper station
Years ago, all my grill tools just lived in a five-gallon bucket by the back door. It was messy, and I'd always dig for the right tongs. Last fall, I built a simple wooden rack with hooks for everything. Now it's all in view, and I think old pitmasters would appreciate the order, even if their setups were more rough and ready.

My grandpa kept his smoker tools in a rusty coffee can for 40 years. Not sure the old timers would lose sleep over a nice wooden rack.

Back in my hometown, the hardware store still sells nails out of wooden barrels. It reminds me of your grandpa's coffee can, where things just had to work, not look pretty. I see this a lot now, where people buy fancy organizers for tools they barely use. The old way was about getting the job done with what you had. That mindset seems lost sometimes.
