Rant: Tried to binge 'The Leftovers' and gave up after 5 episodes
I heard so many people rave about The Leftovers being a hidden gem. So last month I finally started it. I made it through 5 episodes and I just couldn't keep going. The whole show felt so slow and depressing, like nothing really happened. I kept waiting for something exciting to kick in but it just dragged on. My friend told me to stick with it because season 2 gets better. But I don't have the patience to sit through more episodes that feel like a chore. Has anyone else bailed on this show early or does it actually get good later?

Yeah that's the thing - people act like episode 6 is this big payoff but you already sat through 5 hours of nothing happening. I get why you'd bail. Life's too short to watch TV that feels like homework.

You're bailing way too early. The Leftovers is about atmosphere and character psychology, not plot explosions. Episode 6 is where the show finally clicks - it has one of the most haunting scenes I've ever seen on TV. Season 2 completely reinvents itself and is legitimately one of the best seasons of any show ever made. You're quitting right before it gets incredible.
