TIL I was skipping the best part of every show for 5 years straight
My buddy Dan kept telling me to watch the first 15 minutes of every episode of The Wire because that's where the real plot threads got planted. I blew him off for years, thought he was just being fancy about pacing. Last month I finally did a full rewatch of all 5 seasons and he was dead right. I missed so many tiny character beats and callbacks because I'd grab a snack or scroll my phone during the cold opens. It turned a show I liked into something I couldn't stop thinking about. Now I'm wondering how many other shows hide their best stuff in the opening scenes. Has anyone else gone back and rewatched a show with different rules about what to pay attention to, and did it change how you saw the whole series?

Honestly I heard some podcast guy say creators hide easter eggs in intros because half the viewers skip them.
