Vent: I gave up on a show after two episodes and my friend called me a quitter

I always felt like I had to watch at least three episodes of a new series to give it a fair shot... it was a rule I made for myself. But this new sci-fi show, 'Echo Drift', just felt so slow and the main guy was really annoying. My buddy Mark said I was being a quitter, so I skipped ahead to episode four like he told me to. The plot totally picked up and I ended up watching the whole first season in a weekend. Has anyone else had a show that got way better if you just jumped ahead a bit?

Glad you ended up liking the show, but skipping ahead is a bad habit. You were right to trust your gut after two episodes. A lot of shows have slow starts, but if the main character is annoying from the jump, that's a real problem. The show might get better, but you shouldn't have to work that hard to enjoy it. Your time is worth more than forcing yourself through bad episodes.

Totally get what you mean about annoying main characters. I tried sticking with a show last month where the lead was just awful, kept hoping they'd get better. Ended up wasting like five hours before I gave up, and the show never did fix that problem. Sometimes you just have to cut your losses and find something that doesn't make you cringe from the start. Life's too short for bad TV.
